Sammons Wins Second this Season Posted August 2, 2009
BORDENTOWN, NJ - Davey Sammons visited victory lane at Delaware International Speedway for the second time in his career this past Saturday, August 1st. For Sammons, it was his third United Racing Company career win and his second victory at DIS. His last victory at DIS came in November 2007.
Sammons started third in the feature event and took the lead from Chris Coyle on lap 7. The Baby Huey Express No. 79 was locked down, as Sammons was able to gain a substantial lead on his competitors. A mid-race caution brought the field back together, but Sammons was still the man to beat. It was a perfect night for the young driver, as he also won his heat race.
When Sammons entered the track at the conclusion of the evening's program, he was greeted by many race fans and congratulated on his win. Little did they know, this win was special for Sammons and his crew. Davey dedicated the win to the late Joe Pratt, whose name is proudly displayed on Sammons No. 79 each race. Pratt played an influential role in Davey's racing career. The tribute was only fitting.
Next stop on the URC tour for Sammons is Williams Grove Speedway, Friday August 7th. URC will be back in action Saturday, August 8th as well at Bridgeport Speedway. As the season winds down, fans are encouraged to pick up their 2009 Davey Sammons Merchandise before it's too late. Tee shirts, Hooded Sweatshirts and Ladies tanks are available for purchase at the race track or by ordering online at www.daveysammons.com.
